How Do i get hairstyles for the sims 2 to work?

I Have downloaded some hairstyles to my sims2 and ive saved them right and stuff ,, but whem am on the game the hairstyles dont show ,, but the clothes i download seem to work fine does any1 no the problem ??

    Ensure you have the mesh file and the colour file for hairstyles. you need both for them to work :)
